Although our campus is 30 acres, we like to think of all of Costa Rica as our extended campus and outdoor learning laboratory. We are fortunate to be much more than a college-preparatory school comparable with schools in the U.S. and around the world. We are much more thanks to our integration of the dramatic natural setting into our curriculum through local field trips, and encouragement of our families to embrace the pura vida lifestyle!
CRIA students attend regular classes and participate in co-curricular sports, activities and community service activities during the week. On weekends families and students can take adventurous trips and have plain old fun outside the classroom throughout Costa Rica.
Typical destinations and experiences include:
The vibrant cloud forests of Monteverde
Camping trips to nearby beaches or islands
Beautiful Manuel Antonio National Park
Camping at Santa Rosa
Exploring Rincon de la Vieja
Witnessing the incredible Ostional Olive Ridley turtle nesting beach
Whitewater rafting the Pacuare or Reventazon rivers
Cave-spelunking at Arenal or Barra Honda
Horseback riding – available almost anywhere and everywhere in Costa Rica, usually combined with a special destination or inside a National Park
Sailing, on one of several available catamarans or sail boats
Snorkeling off nearby reefs in warm Pacific waters
Scuba diving (scuba certification available for those who are uncertified)
You do not need to be a professional scuba diver, horseback rider, hiker, surfer, or all around adventurer! Reward yourself with the satisfaction of experiencing and learning something new with every challenge.
This is just a very small sample of all the things we do at CRIA. Come explore, get involved and create fabulous memories with us!
